U.S. Green Building Council’s annual Federal Summit will be held on May 24, 2006 at the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington. The Federal Summit provides, among other things, an opportunity for federal employees to hear about new developments at USGBC and with LEED; network with other federal policymakers and LEED users; learn how LEED can be used to meet Federal green building goals; and learn about current green building initiatives within the Federal government. The Summit is open to all Federal employees and Federal contractors who provide building related services.
More information on the Federal Summit, including registration information, can be found at www.usgbc.org/federalsummit. Plan now to attend the next Federal Network for Sustainability meeting on July 19 and 20, 2006. Hosted by the DOE Idaho National Laboratory, the meeting will focus on: “Meeting the Challenges for Sustainable Energy in Federal Facilities.”
Central to the meeting will be a round table forum on current experiences and issues in converting Federal fleets to alternative fuels, and reducing the use of petroleum products. In addition, presentations and brief tours on emerging sustainable options for fleets, distributed and utility scale energy will cover topics such as:
Hydrogen production and fueling
Synthetic fuels development: coal/biomass/cellulosic ethanol, New generation of nuclear power, Battery technology, Wind/solar/geothermal/hydro
This meeting will begin to address our challenges and solutions, and appropriate energy mangers are encouraged to attend!
